Welcome to the Milk Room

The C.S. Mott Children's and Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital (C&W) at Michigan Medicine is home to the first formula and breast milk preparation room in a pediatric hospital nationwide which provides fully staffed services 24 hours daily. This operation, the Milk Room, opened in December 2011 and operates to safely store, prepare, and deliver infant and pediatric feedings of mixed formulas and breast milk to inpatients. The Milk Room operates using the best practices outlined by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and by the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition. The Milk Room utilizes a centralized, lean operation for feeding preparation. The Milk Room staff are proud to serve at least 50-60% of the inpatient population at C&W every day.
