Bo Schembechler
The Bo Schembechler Heart of a Champion Research Fund is a fitting legacy for such a remarkable man. Furthermore, it provides a unique opportunity for others to make a significant Michigan Difference. From making groundbreaking research possible, to attracting the leaders and best to Michigan, the Heart of a Champion Research Fund has the potential to revolutionize cardiovascular medicine. In line with something Bo once famously said, "Those who stay will be champions" — those who give will be, too.

Other Ways to Support the Fund

In addition to direct contributions to the Heart of a Champion Research Fund, you can show your support through the following sources:

Bo's TeamBo's Team: You can join "Bo's Team" with a $10,000
(or more) donation to the fund.

Bo Schembechler proved that a diagnosis of cardiovascular disease need not be a death sentence if you can build a team to help put a game plan together to beat it. As a member of Bo's Team, you will receive a bronze miniature of the statue which is located in the clinic lobby of the U-M Frankel Cardiovascular Center, and you will join the Heart of a Champion team in Bo's truest sense of the word. Together you share Bo's hope that supporting cardiovascular research will yield new observations in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease which will help others in the same way that Bo benefited from a series of medical and surgical advances. Like Bo, team members are passionate about facilitating research breakthroughs that will ultimately help each of us win in our own medical battles. To learn more about Bo's Team contact Terra Neukam at (734) 615-3657 or tneukam@umich.edu.

PACE PAL® Smart Pedometer

A great message and opportunity to give! Thank you to Larry Day, a long-time University of Michigan supporter:

"My Cardiologist and good friend, Kim Eagle, M.D. (Head of Clinical Cardiology at the U of Michigan) was Bo's Cardiologist. His wonderful care extended Bo's life many years. Dr. Eagle also skillfully helped me regain my quality of life and set World Masters Swimming records after a heart attack. Dr. Eagle wants us to spread the word about the importance of cardiovascular research supported by THE BO SCHEMBECHLER HEART OF A CHAMPION RESEARCH FUND.

The idea of creating the PACE PAL Smart Pedometer to raise money for cardiac research arose when Dr. Eagle told me he keeps track of walking 10,000 steps per day with a pedometer. If he hasn't completed the task by day's end the balance is completed on his home treadmill. Ask your doctor if this might be a good program for you and please consider buying a PACE PAL SMART PEDOMETER at: www.mypacepal.com

PACE PAL® will donate 50% ($15) of the proceeds for every PACE PAL® Smart Pedometer purchased (up to $25,000 through January 1, 2017) to THE BO SHCEMBECHLER HEART OF A CHAMPION RESEARCH FUND at the University of Michigan Health System.
