Transplantation
In kidney transplantation, a new kidney (either from a cadaver or someone close to you) is placed in your body. This new kidney takes over all the functions that your damaged kidneys can’t do. However, a kidney transplant does not cure the disease that caused your kidneys to fail; it is only a treatment.

Although a kidney transplant recipient is free from dialysis, having a transplant still means regular blood tests and checkups. You will also have to take medication to suppress your immune system for the rest of your life.
