In addition to rejection, there are other possible complications that can result from a kidney transplant; they can be common or rare, minor or serious. They include:
If you do have one or more of these complications, and lose your transplant, it is usually still possible to get another. If you have another living donor, you go back to that point in the process. If you don’t then you go on the waiting list again. The chance of success is highest with first transplants, but many people have had a successful second, third, or even fourth kidney transplant.
