Patient
From the recovery room you will be moved to a regular hospital room where you will stay until your transplant team believes you’re ready to go home.

Your immunosuppression to prevent rejection of the kidney will begin at the moment you recieve the new kidney.

Within about 24 hours of surgery, you’ll be encouraged to get out of bed and move around and you’ll be able to eat and drink. You will also begin learning about how to take good care of your new kidney.
