Women's Health Research

What we know about women’s health could fill a book; what we need to fill is a library.

Women have been under-represented in clinical research since research began. The risk of pregnancy and fluctuating hormone levels are just two reasons that researchers have cited for not including women in research.

Since women are not involved in research, the knowledge we gain from it may not always be helpful to women. Important women’s health questions are therefore being left unanswered.

Addressing the health needs of ALL women is an important part of the UMHS Women’s Health Program’s mission and goals. One of the ways in which this can be accomplished is through facilitating the inclusion of women in research. See Get Involved! for more information.
