The University of Michigan’s
Pelvic Pain Clinic

The Pelvic Pain Clinic, within U-M’s Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, is a consultative service for women who suffer from chronic pelvic pain. The clinic team, led by Arnold Advincula, M.D., Director, also includes Arleen Song, M.D., Laurie Crimando, N.P., and Anne Schork, R.N.

These practitioners work closely not only with their patients, but with other referring disciplines—such as urology, gastroenterology, the Spine Center/physical medicine & rehabilitation, and the interventional anesthesiology pain clinic—in order to provide patients with the most comprehensive care possible. Patients of the clinic receive a variety of services including case review, additional diagnostic testing, and an individualized treatment plan comprised of medical and/or surgical treatment.

Once treatment has been rendered or a plan of care established, patients are typically referred back to their primary care physician for long-term care. The clinic team remains involved in the patient’s care on a consultative basis. The Pelvic Pain Clinic team also specializes in minimally invasive surgical procedures for both the diagnosis and treatment of many of the causes of chronic pelvic pain.
