U-M Health System Urologic Oncology Research Initiative

Broad Goal

Urologic Oncology is an program of emphasis within the U-M Comprehensive Cancer Center. Our goal is to have one of the foremost programs for urologic cancer in the country and we are very close to that. We have made a major investment bringing together a highly-regarded group of researchers and clinicians with a primary interest in collaborative urologic cancer research and care. We have one of the largest multidisciplinary groups of researchers and clinicians in genitourinary oncology in the country, and we have a combination of urologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, medical oncologists and basic researchers who meet on a regular basis to share information. Having this multidisciplinary group of people is a critical component. Bringing that many individuals together to start five labs and funding this sort of development plan exemplifies a tremendous commitment to preventing and conquering this complex disease.
