The Reed Nesbit Society Meeting and Festschrift celebrating the academic career of Dr. Edward McGuire took place on October 23 - 25th. Over 150 of Dr. McGuire’s former fellows and residents as well as colleagues from around the world attended this important event. An international panel discussion was followed by a full day of medical presentations on neurourology and pelvic floor reconstruction.
We presented Dr. McGuire a memory book which included letters and photos on how his excellent skills as a teacher and clinician impacted those who studied with him, physicians in clinical practice and patients. Dr. McGuire’s discoverys and research changed the field of neururology and pelvic floor reconstruction. His world renowned stature was evident by the outpouring of best wishes and attendance. A dinner Friday evening was filled with speeches and presentations in honor of our colleague.
The Department of Urology is also seeking to endow the Edward J. McGuire Professor of Urology in which we have raised $265,000 to date in our goal towards the $2 Million necessary to establish this fund.
