Reed Nesbit Society
and Visiting Professor Meeting

October 7-9, 2010
On behalf of the University of Michigan faculty and staff, we look forward to hosting you at the 25th Reed M. Nesbit Society and Visiting Professor Meeting, October 7-8, 2010, in Ann Arbor.
The meeting will begin on Thursday, October 7th, at 1:30 pm at the University of Michigan Palmer Commons. This year’s Visiting Professor will be Colin P.N. Dinney, MD, Chairman, Department of Urology at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. He is the lead investigator at their Genitourinary SPORE in Bladder Cancer Research. His bench and clinical research focus on the biology of metastatic bladder cancer and on the development of novel therapeutic strategies for early and advanced disease. Dr. Dinney will be giving two talks: “The Neoadjuvant Paradigm as a Platform for Personalized Therapy” and “The Implications of Epithelial to Mesenchymal Transition in Urothelial Carcinoma.” A welcome reception will follow in the evening at the recently opened North Quadrangle Residential and Academic Complex for members.
The scientific session will resume Friday morning with presentations by UM faculty, alumni, residents and a panel discussion on bladder cancer with Dr. Dinney. Continuing our new tradition of inviting interesting speakers from outside of urology, we are happy to announce that Dave Brandon, UM’s new athletic director, has agreed to speak on Friday, October 8th. The annual Nesbit Society Reunion Dinner will follow on Friday night at Barton Hills Country Club. Finally on Saturday, we’ll have a tailgate party (look for the Nesbit flag!) and we will hope for a perfect ending with a Michigan victory over Michigan State in the newly renovated Big House.
