Although metastasis is the ultimate cause of death in most cancer patients, the mechanisms through which cancer metastasizes to distant sites are not clearly defined. Our laboratory is focused on the biology of prostate cancer metastasis. We have identified a gene that inhibits metastasis and are determining the mechanisms and signaling pathways through which this gene works. Additionally, because prostate cancer has a predilection for metastasizing to bone, we are focused on the interaction between the bone microenvironment and the prostate cancer cells. We accomplish our research through a combination of molecular, cellular, animal and human clinical trial studies. Keletal Metastasis PO1 site.
