Dr. Tom Shanley serves as the Director, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, Director, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program at the University of Michigan and Associate Director for Pediatrics for the Michigan Institute for Clinical and Health Research (MICHR). His research interests include the genomics of pediatric sepsis, regulation of host innate immune responses, pathophysiologic mechanisms mediating acute lung injury, mechanisms of immunoparalysis and relatedness to endotoxin- and cross-tolerance and phosphatase regulation of inflammatory cell signaling. His clinical interests include the management of pediatric hypoxemic respiratory failure, management of severe sepsis and septic shock, indications and use for CVVH and post-operative cardiac management. He received his medical degree from the Pritzker School of Medicine, University of Chicago.
