James Geiger, MD, Executive Director

Dr. Geiger is Director of the Medical Innovation Center and an Associate Professor of Surgery at
the University of Michigan where he also serves as Director of the Minimally Invasive Surgery
Program and Surgical Director of the Pediatric Comprehensive Weight Management Center. Dr. Geiger
earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University school of Medicine. He completed his
General Surgery residency, a Surgical Critical Care fellowship, and a Pediatric Surgery Fellowship
at University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor. In addition to his appointments at the
University of Michigan, Dr. Geiger serves as Chairmen of the St. Vincent's Mercy Children's
Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. Dr. Geiger's research interests include immunotherapy of cancer and the
development of novel medical devices. He is currently the lead investigator of an FDA approved
pilot study of dendritic cell vaccines post blood stem cell transplant. He is board certified in
pediatric surgery, general surgery, and surgical critical care.
