Ulysses Balis

Associate Professor of Pathology, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI

Dr. Ulysses Balis serves as the Director of Clinical Informatics in the Division of Pathology at the University of Michigan. He was the Founding Medical Director of the Core Instrumentation and Image Processing Laboratory for Associated Regional and University Pathologists, Inc. (ARUP) in Salt Lake City, UT. He also served as Assistant Medical Director for the Flow Cytometry Clinical Laboratory for ARUP. In 2000, Dr. Balis joined the faculty of the Department of Pathology at Harvard Medical School as an Instructor and was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2002. He served as Chief of Pathology and Laboratory Services at Shriners Hospital for Children, Boston Burns Unit and was the Director of Pathology Informatics at Massachusetts General Hospital. He holds dual BS degrees in Computer Engineering and Biology from Duke University and an MD from the University of South Florida.
