Fernando Alberdi's patent practice is concentrated on preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the life science, medical devices and biotechnological arts. He received his Juris Doctorate magna cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law with a concentration in Intellectual Properties. He also earned a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Biotechnology from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in Melbourne, Australia and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry/Microbiology majoring in natural product research in the field of antimicrobials.

Prior to entering the legal profession, Dr. Alberdi has conducted applied and basic biomedical research for over ten years. His postdoctoral appointments at the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation and the University of Michigan, applied biochemical, immunological and molecular biological techniques to investigate diseases related to inflammation, sepsis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and most recently, the basic biology of adenovirus DNA packaging.
