Complementary and Alternative Medicine Research Center: Contributors
To date, researchers have investigated the efficacy of several CAM therapies in the treatment of heart conditions, cancers, chronic pain, depression, and job outlook.

Private donation has also helped UMIM to make important contributions to research. We are honored to have one of the very few endowed professorships in Integrative Medicine. Our director, Steven F. Balling, MD is the Gayle Haltering Kahn Professor of Integrative Medicine that was donated by Mark Kahn in honor of his late wife. Further support has come from individual donors, like Marge and Bob Lapper, and allows us to support promising young investigators, test new hypotheses, and obtain pilot data that is critical to garnering further funding from the NIH.
