Web Service Providers
If you'd prefer to have your website developed for you rather than creating it yourself, here are some options.

Want to develop a UMHS website yourself?

Publishing on www.med.umich.edu

UMHS staff may use the web server run by MCIT at www.med.umich.edu (known as MED-INFO on the interal Novell network) to publish UMHS-related departmental or project information. Here's how:

  1. Request access to the webserver
    • The www.med.umich.edu server should be used only for publishing UMHS departmental or project-related materials only. The U-M Information Technology Central Services (ITCS) provides instructions on how to publish your personal homepage on their web servers.
    • To publish on a web server other than www.med.umich.edu, you'll need to contact whoever is listed as the contact on that website..

  2. Learn about HTML and web publishing
  3. Learn about the web environment at UMHS.
How the UMHS external and internal websites are set up, what kind of publishing software MCIT will install for you for free, and technical information about the webserver.

  4. Learn how to use the MCIT webserver
What you need to know to use the www.med.umich.edu (MED-INFO) webserver, including topics like: how to access the server, sending e-mail from forms, naming your files, how to search your site, and more.

  5. Review UMHS Web Publishing Guidelines
The do's and don'ts for UMHS websites, including information about copyright, release forms, logos, acronyms, and more.

  6. Use the UMHS Web Toolkit to build your site
Includes links to publishing guidelines, graphics, logos and more.

  7. Add your completed site to the UMHS website
When your web site is ready to go "live", use this form to let us know.
