PEP (Pre-Employment Program)

History & Purpose

PEPThe Pre-Employment Program was initiated on February 15, 1999 with two objectives. First, to reduce the amount of time to fill a position, and second, reducing staff turnover during the probationary period. Over ten years later, those objectives and the dedication to meet them remains unchanged.

Did You Know?

A wise person once said, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Recent statistics indicate that seven out of ten UMHS probationary terminations are found to have not successfully completed PEP! For this reason, Health System Leadership continues the expectation that all external applicants successfully PEP screen prior to receiving a job offer.
