Informal Dispute Resolution

University grievance procedures encourage informal resolution before filing a formal grievance. Following are guidelines for informal dispute resolution:

  1. Have an informal private discussion: LISTEN to the employee and try to resolve their concern;

  2. Request judgment of a higher manager;

  3. Consult with your Human Resources representative;

  4. Consider mediation;

  5. The Employee Assistance Program can be helpful.
