Instructional Design

Instructional design is an important aspect of successfully integrating low, medium, and high fidelity simulation into curriculum. The selection of the best type of simulator(s), how simulators should be used, and the appropriate sequencing of knowledge and skills to optimize learning is of critical importance to the successful use of simulation in instruction. Formative and summative assessment criteria and performance measurements are well supported through comprehensive instructional design specific to the needs of individual curriculum designs, and are integrated into the learning objectives for each specialty area. The faculty of UMCSC is expert in the area of instructional design and in identifying optimum use of simulators for specific learning and performance outcomes. UMCSC faculty is available for instructional design services, consultation, and research opportunities. Please contact Dr. Pamela Andreatta for additional information.
