The lapmentor is a force feedback enabled laparoscopic training simulator. Trainees can opt to train on either the basic skills (eye-hand-coordination, depth perception) or perform full blown lapchole procedures. The simulator can be setup in either an open-for-all training mode or a more streamlined, password protected mode. Faculty members can choose between prescribing pre-defined coursework to trainees or administer exams requiring trainees to perform full procedures. The system offers opportunities for perfecting basic generic laparoscopic skills and performing complete laparoscopic surgery procedures.
