The organization
and its mission:
The staff of the Arkansas Regional Organ Recovery Agency will make
every effort to provide organs and tissues for life-saving and life-enhancing
transplantation. This goal will be accomplished through continuous hospital
involvement which includes hospital training, and through community involvement
by providing public education. The staff will strive to be ethical and professional
while coordinating donor recovery, thus providing dignity and honor to both
donor families and recipients.
Unique or creative
organ donation promotion strategies:
(1) Statewide donor registry project that has resulted in 600,000 of 1.6 million
drivers to sign their license for donation.
(2) Volunteer network to promote donor registry in the state revenue offices. Currently have volunteers staffing 32 locations.
(3) Future business leaders of America (FBLA) -- devised a point system where chapters compete to promote donation. Annual awards are presented to top chapters and a scholarship is presented to top individual.
