The NCOTSG maintains communication with transplant support groups in adjoining areas and participates in health fairs. It also encourages member participation in National and World Transplant games.
The NCOTSG's mission is to engage in such activities and pursue such programs as are necessary and desirable for the welfare of its members, as related to organ transplant support, both before and after organ transplant surgery.
In addition, the group strives to educate the public about the need for organ donation, form a representative body capable of speaking with authority for members, and foster good fellowship and cooperation among the group.
NCOTSG member Rick McMorrow received a kidney transplant and a second chance at life with his wife Suzanne and son Ted.
Membership is open to any person or group interested in organ donation and organ transplant education. There are no dues, operating expenses come from fund raising.
The NCOTSG meets monthly to exchange information and offer support to transplant patients, their families and friends. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. in The Esplanade Building at the corner of East Fifth Ave. and the Esplanade across from Enloe Hospital. 7:00 - 8:00 is the support part of the meeting (for candidates and recipients); 8:00 -9:00 is the business part of the meeting.
The Speaker's Bureau is available to any organization interested in learning about organ transplants.
Members receive a free monthly newsletter featuring items about other members, the group's activities, and articles relating to organ donation and the transplant process.
The "Sunshine" committee provides support to ailing members and each month, a telephone tree contacts members to find out how they are and to lend support.
A 30-minute video tape is currently in production to enhance and promote organ donation nationwide.

The NCOTSG has been granted non-profit status by the Internal Revenue Service. Donations to the NCOTSG are tax deductible!
The NCOTSG membership currently includes more than 70 transplant recipients and about 250 families and is growing. Together they share their experiences, provide overwhelming support for patients and families, and work to increase organ donations.

In the case of your death, knowing your wishes about organ donation will make it much easier for distraught family members to decide whether to donate your organs and tissue.
