Exercise
Ask your doctor how soon you can start exercising, and what kinds of exercise you can do. Walking is usually the first thing, but ultimately there is no real limit to what you will be able to do. Many transplant recipients are very active and some even run marathons and climb mountains!
You may need to watch certain foods to counteract blood imbalances caused by your medication (ask your doctor or dietician), but otherwise just eat a healthy diet. If you were on a restricted diet before the transplant, you may be thrilled to discover you can eat almost anything you want to. This freedom is terrific, but remember that eating too much can lead to trouble. Many transplant recipients gain weight, so it’s a good idea to eat sensibly and to exercise when you can.
