Medical tests
Patient being tested
The medical staff will take down your complete medical history and give you a thorough physical exam. You will have blood drawn; you may also have an EKG, x-rays or other tests. This is to determine whether or not you are healthy enough to have transplant surgery. Remember, transplantation is not a cure for kidney disease; it is only a treatment. It is important that the treatment is not more harmful than the disease.

Soon after your evaluation, the transplant team will decide if you need further tests. Then they will decide if you are eligible for a transplant. If you are, then you will need to decide whether or not a transplant is right for you.
