22. What happens to the body after the donation surgery? Does donation affect burial, cremation or religious services?

After donation surgery has been completed, the body is released to the funeral home selected by the family. The body can then be prepared for viewing, burial or cremation, just as it would be if organs and tissues had not been donated.

Donation has no effect on burial, cremation, or religious services. Sometimes the donor's family chooses to mention the donation in the funeral service or in the obituary, but that is a matter of choice.
