Pancreas Transplant: Pediatric
image banner

Children are not generally good candidates for pancreas transplants because they would not have experienced complications from their diabetes at a young age. Also, the risk of immunosuppression rarely justifies a pancreas alone transplant for a young person. Most candidates for pancreas transplant also have renal failure, which rarely occurs under the age of 30.
