Patient Packet and Consent Form

After your initial study visit, eligible pregnant participants will be asked to return for 4 follow-up study visits.

Like the first visit, each of these visits will consist of:

Our Thanks

In appreciation for your participation in the study, you will be offered a $10 gift card and paid parking for each study visit attended. You may also request printouts of the images generated during the ultrasound exams.

Newborns

When your baby is born, we will take a sample of blood from the umbilical cord and a sample of the placenta for analysis. Cord blood is routinely collected by hospital staff in the delivery room; we will be requesting a portion of this sample. The placenta (afterbirth) is usually disposed of after normal deliveries. Neither of these procedures will cause any discomfort to your new baby.

We will also collect a buccal swab, which involves sampling some cells from the inside of your baby's cheek with a cotton swab. This should cause little to no discomfort to your baby.
