Getting Started

The TRC is available to all UMHS departments and faculty interested in initiating, operating and/or evaluating telemedicine systems in clinical practice, patient/provider education, care management and clinical decision support.

The TRC provides core support for telemedicine initiatives including operational programs, research projects, and educational programs. Technical assistance is available for departments and faculty in the areas of developing and reviewing telemedicine proposals to be submitted for available intramural funding and for the coordination of telemedicine initiatives for extramural funding.

The TRC provides assistance in the preparation of proposals for extramural funding for telemedicine research, operational programs and demonstrations. In this capacity the TRC assists in identifying, contacting, and providing liaison with funding sources, developing literature reviews, background materials and technical specifications.

Telemedicine proposals, both intramural and extramural, should adhere to the common UMHS programs and initiatives, and comply with UMHS regulations, quality assurance and business practices. The TRC is positioned to provide relevant information, guidance and assistance to ensure compliance in these areas to enhance the orderly development and deployment of telemedicine within UMHS.
