A Custom-Made Store-and-Forward
Telemedicine Application

  e-MOHS(*) is a custom-made version of our Med-SFT Research & Design Project. This automated store-and-forward telemedicine application specially designed for University of Michigan Health System Cutaneous Surgery and Oncology Unit physicians.

This clinical solution consist of state-of-the-art digital imaging devices, custom-made automated image and document processing modules, a dedicated Web server, HIPAA compliant communication protocol, and online self-training materials. This application which will speed up patient referral process does not require any technical experience.

(*) "Mohs": A specialized, highly effective micrographic surgery for the removal of skin cancer.

Each e-MOHS workstation has built-in instructions to use the application, and includes shortcuts to this web site.
A standard e-MOHS telemedicine application consist of four modules:

1) Training Module is designed for self-training. Users can use an online tutorial or print e-MOHS Guide (Adobe Acrobat format).

2) Digital Photography Module is designed standardize digital imaging process.

3) Electronic Form Module includes department specific automated forms with pull-down menus. Each time the system connects to TRC web server and downloads most up-to-date version.

4) Automated Store-and-Forward Telemedicine Module processes images, prints, sends via secure communication and notify receiver's pager with one-button operation.
