Request a Clinical
Consultation or Videoconference
The Telemedicine
Resource Center (TRC) is pleased to offer videoconferencing services
for faculty and staff at the UMHS. These services can be utilized as
a substitute or adjunct to attendance at professional meetings as
well as conducting administrative and professional business from a
distance. Currently, we are limited to two places where these
services can be provided: (1) The TRC offices at NIB 2C31 and (2) a
mobile unit that can be transferred to various offices and clinics,
depending on the available infrastructure at the requesting site.
The equipment at the TRC includes a Polycom for simple
videoconferencing, a supplemental computer for simultaneous
PowerPoint presentation, slide projector (Elmo TRV-35H Color CCD)
and an auxiliary document camera (two chip Cannon RE650 Video
Visualizer). To date, our experience in the use of this equipment
has been mostly positive, but limited. We have dedicated staff, and
we are committed to provide quality service.
Faculty and staff wishing to utilize videoconferencing are asked to
call the TRC office to set up an appointment as soon as they
contemplate using the service. Those needing to make PowerPoint
presentations should submit their presentations on disk at least one
day before the videoconference. This will enable the staff to make a
dry run and also test the links with the receiving site. It is also
necessary to discuss the format and content of the presentation with
the TRC staff at the time the appointment is made to make sure that
your needs can be met.
Videoconferencing can be utilized for clinical, educational,
research, administrative services, as well as other professional and
community service. Users will be required to reimburse the TRC for
staff time and line charges.
The following is the initial price list for this service.
8:00 am – 5:00 pm weekdays $50.00/hour
After 5:00 pm and on weekends* $100.00/hour
Charges include technical support, line charges** and equipment.
Equipment includes the use of standard videoconference unit with the
document camera.
An additional charge of $20.00 will be applied if an event requires
extensive coordination and scheduling.
*Dependent on staff availability
** Line charges for international videoconferces will be billed
separately.
Interested faculty and staff can contact the TRC at (734) 615-8278
