Alfred Taubman takes to the tube to discuss the life sciences
Alfred Taubman on WWJ-TV
As one of the chief advocates of biomedical research in Michigan, A. Alfred Taubman appeared twice recently on WWJ-TV (Channel 62 in Metro Detroit).
He was featured in the CBS affiliate’s special, "Rx for Michigan,” which examines the potential of the life sciences to stimulate economic growth in the state of Michigan.
Hosted by WWJ-TV’s Editorial Director Carol Cain, the show premiered during prime time on Saturday, February 7 at 9 p.m.
Taubman was one of many state leaders interviewed for the show. Cain spoke to U-M President Mary Sue Coleman and Executive Vice President for Medical Affairs Robert Kelch about the University’s purchase of the Ann Arbor Pfizer site and other issues.
She also visited the laboratory of Dr. Eva Feldman, Director of the Taubman Institute, who is developing new treatments for ALS and other neurological diseases through stem cell research.
“Rx for Michigan” was the third program in WWJ-TV’s ongoing “Eye on the Future” series, which analyzes issues crucial to our region. This installment focuses on the life sciences as a possible cure for the sick local economy.
Cain also interviewed Taubman in depth on “Michigan Matters,” WWJ-TV’s weekly news program. She asked his opinion, not only about the biomedical industry, but on a wide range of important issues, including the economic future of Michigan, the current crop of political leaders, the state of retail and the secret to his success.
