Rounds: TIPS FOR SUCCESS

  • - Your participation on rounds will be a MAJOR component of your evaluation.
  • - If you stand at the back of the group and don’t participate, your chief and residents will notice.
  • - Be involved. Ask questions about the plans, participate in dressing changes, know what is going on with your patients.
  • - When you walk into the room, one student (or more) should put on gloves and go to the bedside to help with any patient care tasks. If it is your patient, this needs to be you.
  • - Rounds move fast. Unlike other services, rounds have to be finished in time for the residents to get to the OR. Hang on for the ride and keep up!
