U-M School of Social WorkThe U-M Department of Social Work is part of the University of Michigan Health System, one of the country’s leading academic medical centers. Social workers are integral members of health care teams in many essential and internationally-recognized programs, such U-M cardiology, cancer, geriatrics and organ transplant. In addition, social workers run a variety of support and education groups for inpatients and outpatients, and their significant others. Staff members are recognized for their clinical expertise in such areas as child abuse, sexual health, trauma care and hemophilia.
U-M social workers provide the following services:
- Crisis intervention
- Counseling
- Education
- Referrals to Community Resources
- Assistance with Lodging, Meals, Transportation
- Pre and Post-Hospitalization Services
- Lectures and Presentations to Community Groups
