Prostascint

* Inform your physician if you are pregnant or breast feeding.

You have been scheduled for a Prostate study which involves the use of a small amount of radioactive material.  The level of radioactivity used is extremely low.  The radiopharmaceutical used is a monoclonal antibody, which could produce an allergic reaction.

You will be positioned on an imaging table, under a special detector called a gamma camera.  The camera does not produce any radiation.  It will be placed close to the part of your body being imaged.  You will also receive a CT scan during this exam to aid the physicians in interpreting your test.

Patient Preparation

None.

Procedure

This is a 2 part study.  On your first visit a small amount of radioactive material will be injected into a vein in your arm.   You will return for a set of images 5 days later for approximately 2 hours.  You may be asked to return the following day for more delayed imaging if necessary.
