Lymphatic Scan for Melanoma

You have been scheduled for a Lymphatic study which involves the use of a small amount of radioactive material. The level of radioactivity used is extremely low and has no side effects.
Patient Preparation
None.
Procedure
You will be injected around the area of concern (skin lesion) with a series of small injections (usually 4) with a small amount of radioactive material. Painless images will be obtained for approximately one hour. Delayed imaging 2 to 3 hours later may be done of the surrounding lymph nodes.
