Limited Bone/Three Phase Bone Scan

You have been scheduled for a Limited Bone/Three Phase Bone study which involves the use of a small amount of radioactive material. The level of radioactivity used is extremely low and has no side effects.
You will be positioned on an imaging table, under a special detector called a gamma camera. The camera does not produce any radiation. It will be placed close to the part of your body being imaged.
Patient Preparation
None.
Procedure
You will have 2 visits to the department. On your first visit, a small amount of radioactive material will be injected into a vein in your arm. Painless images will be obtained for approximately 30 minutes. On your second visit (3-4 hours later), images will be obtained for approximately one hour.
