Hepatic Artery Catheter

You have been scheduled for a Hepatic Artery Catheter study which involves the use of a small amount of radioactive material. The level of radioactivity used is extremely low and has no side effects.
You will be positioned on an imaging table, under a special detector called a gamma camera. The camera does not produce any radiation. It will be placed close to the part of your body being imaged.
Patient Preparation
None.
Procedure
A small amount of radioactive material will be injected into the catheter. If your catheter is implanted in your abdomen, a nurse from your doctor’s office will come to access the pump. Painless images will be obtained for approximately one hour.
