Case V: 33 year old female with PVNS of the wrist

Image K: Oblique radiograph of the wrist shows a soft tissue mass at the ulnar aspect of the wrist at the level of the carpal bones. Erosions of the hamate and triquetrum are shown (arrows).

Image L: Transverse sonogram at the level of the triquetrum shows a heterogeneous soft tissue mass corresponding to the radiographic density in image K. The arrow indicates the triquetrum bone.

Image M: Transverse gray-scale sonogram with color Doppler shows hypervascularity (arrows) of the lesion.

 

  • Color Doppler imaging typically shows increased flow in the masses of PVNS.
