Cardiothoracic: Residency
The objectives of the Cardiothoracic Radiology rotations are to:
- Begin with a comprehensive introductory experience in cardiothoracic radiology, consisting of a three- or four-week rotation on the general cardiothoracic radiology service during the first year of residency, primarily focused on chest radiographic image interpretation with CT and MR correlation.
- Followed by a three- or four-week rotation on the general cardiothoracic radiology service during the fourth year of residency, focused primarily on chest radiographic image interpretation with CT and MR correlation.
- Residents rotate on the cardiothoracic CT rotation for two blocks of two to three weeks, the first occurring during the second year of residency, and the subsequent rotation occurring in the third or fourth year of residency.
- Electives: third- and fourth-year residents may elect additional cardiothoracic CT rotations or cardiothoracic MR rotations, both including cardiothoracic cardiovascular imaging.
- The cardiothoracic radiology rotations are supplemented by exposure to cardiothoracic radiology during noon conferences, multidisciplinary conferences and extensive resident reading.
