Dr. Strumba is mentored by Margit Burmeister, PhD. She studies global association analysis of genetic polymorphisms and alcohol use disorders (AUD) risk behavioral traits. This work is part of the ongoing collaborative efforts on Michigan Longitudinal Study (MLS). This project consists of two stages. In the first stage, heritability analyses using children sib-pairs of the parents with AUD will be used to select heritable traits. In the second stage, the association of those selected traits and genetic markers in genes known or suspected to be involved in alcohol and substance use disorders will be examined. Dr. Strumba also works on database development for the MLS.
