Leon I. Puttler,
Ph.D.
Dr. Puttler is a research investigator
in the department. He was trained as a clinical psychologist.
Current research interests include risk factors associated with
the development of children of alcoholics, the effects of recovery
status of parental alcohol problems on the functioning of children
and their parents; child sexual abuse, and other areas of normal
and abnormal development of children. Although not currently
doing clinical work, he has previous psychotherapy experience
with children, adults, couples, and families dealing a variety
of issues and problems. Dr. Puttler is currently the director
of the University of Michigan-Michigan State University Longitudinal
Study and is primarily based in East Lansing.
