General Residency Program

How To Apply

Thank you for your interest in the Psychiatry Residency Training Program at the University of Michigan. Our residency program considers applications from individuals who meet at least one of the following criteria:

Admission Requirements:

  • Graduated from an LCME (i.e. U.S./Canadian) accredited medical school

or

  • Completed one month of formal clinical training in an LCME accredited medical school or ACGME accredited training program (observer and physician assistant positions do not count);

or

  • Performed a significant amount and quality of research or clinical work beyond that required for graduation from medical school.

PGY-I

Applications are submitted through ERAS. Application materials should include:

  • ERAS On-line Application

  • Personal Statement

  • Curriculum Vitae

  • Four Letters of Recommendation: one from the Dean of your medical school, and three letters from persons of your choice

  • Medical School Transcript

  • If you are a foreign medical graduate, please submit a copy of your ECFMG certificate.

PGY-II

Application paperwork should include:

  • Universal Application (click to Download/View)

  • Personal Statement

  • Curriculum Vitae

  • Five letters of recommendation: one letter from the Dean of your medical school, a letter from your current/former residency training director(s), and three letters from persons of your choice

  • Medical School Transcript

  • If you are a foreign medical graduate, we will also need a copy of your ECFMG certificate.
