Social Media at UMHS
UMHS has established numerous well regarded social media presences across all major platforms which units and departments are encouraged to use.
To discuss having your news, events or other information added to these sites, please contact Public Relations at 734-764-2220.
Using already established platforms can help reach a wider audience faster, as it takes a considerable amount of time to build a fan base. However, if you feel your needs will not be met by these, please fill out the online application to discuss your needs and to help you get started.
Platforms available include, but are not limited to:

Current page administrators for any official UMHS Facebook page should join the UMHS FB Admins group to discuss issues, share best practices and stay up-to-date on changes as they occur on Facebook.
Video
- YouTube - high volume of viewers, good for short videos 10 minutes or less.
- Vimeo - not as high volume of viewers but accommodates videos longer than 10 minutes.
- Flickr - hosts both photos and video, though we have not used it to host video yet.
- MTube - internal video sharing resource for faculty and staff

URL Shortener
bit.ly - allows you to create custom, shortened URLs and QR codes, and track your results.
Monitoring and tracking
Google Analytics - PRMC tracks its Web statistics using Google Analytics. When using social media to drive traffic to your Web site, Google Analytics can tell you if they've made it there.
ViralHeat - social media monitoring and analytics tool that helps track mentions, evaluate influencers and more.
Hootsuite - monitor and manage multiple Facebook and Twitter feeds, schedule posts, track stats.
TweetDeck - monitor and manage multiple Facebook and Twitter feeds.
