Faculty & Staff Communications
Reach your audience most effectively through a tailored, targeted message. We can assist you through these and other communication methods:
We manage distribution of Global User messages through an Outlook mailing list. Email messages also may be sent to specific, targeted groups, such as nursing, faculty or others. While we do not manage every e-list, we can help you find the right resource or contact. Get information and guidelines on submitting a Global User e-mail request.
Health System Headlines is the U-M Health System’s number one source for news, events, announcements and more! In a daily email edition, you’ll find a Top Story (an item of broad interest), a list of announcements organized into categories to make them easy to skim, “ads” for UMHS initiatives, and a list of the day’s events. Visit the site for details and submit your own announcements through the online submission form.
Inside View is the Health System's employee newsletter. The publication is available online and comes out every other month. Content includes articles on Health System news, employee/unit profiles, communications about institutional initiatives, features on how we are Taking Care of Our Own, lean initiatives and more.
Internal Homepage carousel and other links: For a large percentage of the Health System's faculty and staff, the Internal Home Page is the default "home" Web page. This page features several areas where news items can be posted.
The Top Stories carousel is a photo slideshow of items with broad interest to the UMHS community, including messages from top leaders, institutional initiatives, major celebrations or observations, upcoming deadlines for institution-wide efforts, research news, and safety/health/employee benefits information. Emergency information, including weather messages and utility issues, are also shared on the internal homepage.
Items must be requested a week in advance and may remain on the carousel for up to four days as space allows. Note: Events will not be listed unless there is a provision for employees to watch the event online no matter where they work.
The carousel will be used as a key part of urgent communications about emergencies related to weather, disease outbreaks, or U-M Health System facilities and operations. Prescheduled items may be bumped from the rotation by emergency communications.
To submit an item for consideration, send a message to mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include: the address of the Web page that the carousel item should point to, an image no smaller than 386x215 pixels in size, and text of no more than 100 characters including spaces. The PRMC team reserves the right to edit the text.
Internal banner advertisement: The bottom right-hand area of the internal home page features a "banner ad" that can promote an event, new clinical or support operation, or other item of interest to the U-M Health System community. Up to two banner ads may be running at once; they will alternate when a visitor visits the internal home page. Ads that have been created for externally facing Web sites may also be appropriate for this space. If a new ad is requested and approved, PRMC can assist with the creation of the ad. In either case, two weeks' notice is required for creation and scheduling of a banner ad.
