Welcome to the University of Michigan Orthotics & Prosthetics Center (UMOPC) web site.

UMOPC Anniversary Logo
Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate 100 years of services to the patients of the University of Michigan Health System. Click on the special anniversary logo for more information about our past centennial celebrations.

We hope that you have learned more about who we are and what we offer in orthotic, pedorthic and prosthetic services for you and your family. Some of these services have been a part of the University of Michigan Health System since 1912 and were incorporated into the Appliance Shop in the mid-1930's. In the 1950's O&P was moved from the Department of Surgery to the then newly formed Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Most of the services offered were orthotically-related but in the late 1950's prosthetics was incorporated and the division became known as orthotics & prosthetics. In 1991 UMOPC moved to its current location at 2850 S. Industrial Hwy, Suite 400. The field of O&P has changed dramatically in the past two decades - UMOPC has been afforded the opportunity to keep up with these changes educationally and technically. We provide all levels of service in orthotics (custom, custom-fit and off-the-shelf) and prosthetics as well as a complete line of breast prostheses, bras, compression garments and a line of non-prescription strength compression stockings and socks. We hope you will make us "Your Provider of Choice for Orthotic and Prosthetic Services."
