Lifetime Outcomes and Needs: Refining the Understanding
of Aging with Spinal Cord Injury
Principal Investigator: Denise Tate PhD
This study, which is being conducted in collaboration with
four other Model Systems, has a variety of purposes. Its
overall purpose is to evaluate how life changes for people
with SCI over an extended period of time. In 2005, the U-M
Model System will have participated in this study for 15
years. During the five-year period that began in the early
2001, the study has had seven specific projects. For one of
these studies, titled "Issues related to spirituality and
the effects of health outcomes on quality of life", we have
primary responsibility. It explores the relationships
between factors including spirituality, social support,
psychological well-being health status and access to health
care. Nation-wide, information from 625 subjects is being
used for this study.
