Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP)
SROP offers outstanding undergraduates the chance to work closely with faculty in an intensive summer research experience. SROP gives undergraduate students first-hand exposure to the graduate school experience and faculty life by placing them with faculty whose work is closely related to their academic interests and career goals. Students work under faculty mentorship either on an individual basis or as part of a research team. Research teams may also include graduate students, research scientists, and other SROP students.

Department of Pharmacology Summer Research Programs
ASPET Gerald J. Dalton/Vincent G. Zannoni and Charles Ross Summer Research Programs for Undergraduate/Graduate Students. The Summer Program runs 10-12 weeks. Students are provided a stipend of $3,000-$3,600 depending on how long they stay. Applications should be sent to Dennis Ondreyka (address is on the application).

Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP)

This program creates research partnerships between the students and the U of M faculty. UROP places students into research settings to provide them with hands-on experiences to enhance their educational success. All schools and colleges of the University of Michigan are active participants in UROP, thereby providing a wealth of research topics from which a student can choose.

Program for Neurology Research & Discovery (PNR&D) Young Scholars Summer Program

This program offers summer internships to outstanding undergraduate students interested in neurological research. Scholars are trained in a wide range of laboratory procedures, including immunohistochemistry, Western blotting, animal surgery, protein analysis, cell culture and microscopy. Each student is assigned to a PNR&D research team. Scholars conclude the summer with final presentations of their research findings to the lab director and members of the research teams. The PNR&D Scholars spend 10 weeks in the laboratory and receive a stipend of $3,000.

Perrigo/Life Sciences Institute (LSI) Summer Fellows Program

The Perrigo Company and the University of Michigan Life Sciences Institute are offering summer fellowships to highly qualified undergraduate students currently enrolled at any university or college in Michigan. Each student will be assigned to a laboratory in the Life Sciences Institute for hands-on experience with world-class researchers. The following summer, some fellows may considered for internships with the Perrigo Company.

Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) in Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry hosts an NSF-funded program that brings 10 students from around the country to the University of Michigan campus for a 10-week program of research. Projects are available with all of the faculty members, including a particularly large number of bio-oriented groups. The stipend is at least $4000, and includes travel and housing. This program is not open to University of Michigan undergraduates.

Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) in Chemistry in China

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Michigan, in collaboration with its colleagues at Peking University, the premiere research university in China, have developed a summer undergraduate research exchange program. Students from both inside and outside the University of Michigan are eligible to apply for this program. The US-to-China portion is funded as an International REU Site by the NSF. After a 4-day orientation in Ann Arbor, the students travel to Beijing for a 2-week program of instruction in language, culture and daily living. Following this, the students join their research group for 8 weeks. The stipend is at least $2500, and includes travel and housing.

Physics Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates

This program provides selected undergraduate students from around the United States an opportunity to conduct ten weeks of summer research with some of the country's leading physicists in a range of experimental physics fields.
