"Ann Arbor is a great town to live in. I was slightly familiar with the city before I moved here. I love the fact that it is small enough get around easily and quickly (often on foot), and still has tons of great stuff to do.

It has a lot of great natural areas for hiking, biking, canoeing/kayaking, cross-country skiing, learning about local flora and fauna, and gardening (great community gardening program). One summer I had a plot in a community garden and that was a lot of fun. I learned about which native wildflowers would be good to plant from a great local plant nursery here in Ann Arbor.

"I like to bike along the Huron River, and run or walk through the Arboretum. One of the canoe liveries is within walking distance from the lab. A couple times a year I volunteer at the Arboretum learning about invasive plant species and helping to remove them.

I really enjoy going to the Farmer’s Market and the local food co-op, both walking distance from work. I played intramural soccer one fall and winter season.  I attend a couple of football games per year. I try to attend a few concerts or performing arts events each year at the University as students get an AMAZING discount on tickets. I have also tried salsa dance lessons, ice skating and skiing. There are tons of extra-curricular activities available to students."
