Over 140 parks can be found in and around the city of Ann Arbor providing ample opportunities for activities ranging from canoeing on the Huron River and biking in the summer to cross country skiing and ice-skating in the winter and much more.   Various organizations throughout Ann Arbor play host to children's activities too, including story-times, arts and crafts, arts and crafts, dance and music lessons, sports lessons for all ages, nature hikes, and outdoor summer movies.  A number of exceptional markets and u-pick can be visited through out the summer including: Ann Arbor Farmer's Market, Saline Farmer's Market, Kern Road Farms, and Wiards Orchard.  

No matter what you crave, you'll find the dining experience to match your expectations.  From the state's finest dining to late-night coney islands, from Middle Eastern to Vietnamese you'll will never run out of places to try.  The number of restaurants has  more than doubled over the past 25 years and new establishments are continually being added.  Main Street, State Street, and Depot Town in Ypsilanti are a few of the many places where you can find distinctive shops and original events and festivals. The combination of cultural, outdoor and sporting activities, excellent restaurants and a lively community make Ann Arbor a terrific place for graduate and postdoctoral studies.
